How often have you had to change your opinion on something you thought was set in stone? Remember that moment when Susan Boyle came out on stage in Britain’s Got Talent and blew us away because the voice just didn’t go with the look?

Back to Back is a theatre company from Australia made up of actors with disabilities. The shows they make talk about personal and social issues that affect everyone – whether disabled or not. In workshops, actors from Back To Back Theatre have been working with people with disabilities from Newham to create a brand new play that gets right at the heart of why we look at things the way we do, and why what an audience expects from something they’re going to see on stage, might be a million miles away from the reality of it.

She from the Sea

Not everyone makes it to the shore. But here I am.

Pearl, Masha and Edlin are trying to move on. A simple life by the sea is all they need to forget their pasts.  But when a mysterious visitor is washed up, she brings with her a dark history that threatens their new way of life.

A decision must be made. Let her stay or make her swim?

Written by Zawe Ashton, Clean Break’s Resident Playwright, whose plays have been performed at Soho Theatre and the Bush, this is a chance to see an exciting new production performed by emerging artists from Clean Break’s education programme.

Clean Break is a theatre company working with women in the criminal justice system. For more information visit: www.cleanbreak.org.uk
