From Plato’s Republic to the shining cityscapes of science fiction, artists and philosophers have long been obsessed with imagining Utopia. As artistic director of Welfare State International, John Fox has spent over 30 years channelling his energies into theatre pieces and installations which serve as both entertainment and metaphorical instruction on how to live. In his lecture Steps In Rehearsing Utopia Fox will be casting his eye back over Welfare State International’s projects and other Utopian art to see how theatre can pave the way for a better future.
