The Fourth Day of LIFT-mas
I don't know about you, but we are getting quite excited about the festive season this year, here at LIFT HQ! Especially as in 2011, we hit the big 3-0. So we thought what better way to see in the holidays, than with our very own 12 days of Christmas?
On the fourth day of LIFT-mas my festival gave to me……
4 angels. Very festive!
LIFT’s own angels made an appearance in 1999’s The Tower Project by Deborah Warner. Taking place in Euston Tower, The Tower Project lifted its vistors hundreds of metres above the city for an immersive and exploratory experience, surveying the city from above.
At the time, Deborah Warner described it as “A genuine offer of experiment and exploration. For me, it is a huge relief to be allowed to think in this way.”
Reviewing for the Daily Telegraph, Charles Spencer said of the project, “If you allow yourself to fall under its spell, it will send a shiver down the spine.”
LIFT had previously collaborated with Deborah in 1995 for the St. Pancras Project, inviting the audience to take part in a ‘fantastical walk’ through the faded splendour of the disused Midland Grand Hotel. She also featured on the panel of the LIFT talks this year, discussing ‘The Epic and The Intimate’.
Happy LIFT-mas!
