Business Arts Forum

Art and business have an often complex relationship with each other. Aiming to foster a greater understanding between these two spheres, the LIFT Business Arts Forum, supported by the Financial Times, was guided by a board of experts from the fields of art, business, organisational thinking and the environment, including Charles Handy, Gerard Fairtlough, Arie de Geus, Barbara Heinzen and Karen Otazo.

Running between 1995 and 2002, participants in the LIFT Business Arts Forum were invited to view a number of LIFT Festival events, which were later followed by discussions and debates. Examining the strengths and weaknesses of each performance from both an artistic and business perspective, the LIFT Business Art Forum proved that both worlds had much to learn from each other, with artists applying different strategies to create more sustainable works and business people forming fresh ways of thinking about relationships in the workplace as a result.
